How Private Runners works

From a machine you own to Dex at work on it.

  1. 1Add a machine

Register a runner and join it with a one-time token.

  2. 2It connects out

The runner opens its own connection to Deixic and waits for work, so you open no inbound ports.

  3. 3Hand Dex the job

Long builds, coding work, and browser sessions run on your hardware.

  4. 4Watch or take over

Follow along from the app, take control when you need to, and hand it back. Detach from a job without stopping it; it is still running when you return.

Your hardware, the same guardrails

Same approval policy
Tool calls on a runner can require approval, just like hosted work, and runner work keeps company context and decision history.
Coding agents on board
Run Codex, Claude Code, or Amp on the runner under the same policy.
From your phone
Pair an iPhone with the desktop app and approve or check in on the go.
Your work stays yours
Unpushed changes are cleaned up only if the machine owner opts in.
